In the first half of 2025, the Volkswagen Group has solidified its position as a global leader in the battery electric vehicle (BEV) market. The Group's top-performing BEVs worldwide include the Volkswagen ID.4, ID.7, and ID.3, which have been particularly successful in Europe, one of the Group's strongest markets for electric vehicles.

The Group's impressive BEV sales reached a total of 465,500 units globally, marking a significant 47% increase compared to the same period in 2024. This growth can be attributed to strong demand in Europe and the USA, despite a decline in China.

In Europe specifically, Volkswagen emerged as the largest all-electric car brand in May 2025. The ID.4 and ID.7 models were among the best-selling electric cars, with the ID.4 delivering 6,923 units and the ID.7 recording 6,664 registrations. The ID.3 also ranked among the top-selling electric models in Europe, indicating all three models form the core of Volkswagen Group’s leading EV portfolio.

Another notable contributor to the Group’s success is Škoda, with its electric model Skoda Elroq becoming the second most popular BEV model in Europe in May 2025. This underscores the Group’s broader EV strength beyond the Volkswagen brand alone.

The Volkswagen Group remains the BEV market leader in Europe, holding onto a 28% share. The US also saw a 24% increase in BEV deliveries for Volkswagen Group in the first half of 2025. However, China saw a 34% decrease in BEV sales for the Group during the same period.

The Group's success can also be attributed to the latest wave of second-generation plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs), which boast all-electric ranges of up to 143 km (about 89 miles), helping to drive demand. Volkswagen Group delivered 192,300 PHEVs worldwide in the first half of 2025, a 41% increase from the same period in 2024.

Some of the Group's other notable BEV deliveries in the first half of 2025 include the Volkswagen ID.5 (60,700 times), Audi Q4 e-tron (44,600 times), Škoda Enyaq (38,700 times), Audi Q6 e-tron (36,500 times), Volkswagen ID. Buzz (27,600 times), and Porsche Macan (25,900 times).

The Volkswagen ID.4 was delivered 84,900 times globally, and the Škoda Elroq was delivered 34,300 times. The Volkswagen ID.7 (including Tourer) was delivered 38,700 times globally.
