AI-Enhanced Feature in Boris FX Optics: Advanced AI Masking for Precise Edits

Boris FX has unveiled its latest release, Optics 2025, a significant upgrade to its Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom plugin. This new version brings a host of key features and improvements, focusing on AI-driven tools and streamlined workflows to boost efficiency and creative possibilities.

Optics 2025 offers an improved photo editing experience with an updated artist-friendly user interface. One of the standout additions is the AI-driven Masking with Face Detection. Leveraging advanced AI, Optics 2025 can automatically track faces for easy and precise masking, simplifying selective edits and effects on faces without the need for manual rotoscoping.

The masking tools are also enhanced with machine learning through the Matte Assist ML Improvements. This feature instantly creates accurate mattes, allowing users to isolate subjects quickly and refine masks with less effort.

A new workflow called Particle Brushes allows artists to paint with particles directly on their images or footage. This innovative feature offers more dynamic and organic visual effects that interact naturally with the content, giving creators more control for generating effects like smoke, fire, or magical elements without extensive keyframing or external plugins.

The Looks Tab centralises presets and stylistic treatments, streamlining the process of applying and adjusting colour grading, film looks, and mood-setting effects. This enhancement provides easy access to a curated library of visual styles for quick experimentation or consistent grading across projects.

In addition to these features, the 2025 release delivers improvements across the Boris FX product family, including Continuum and Mocha. AI-Powered Noise Removal and Upscaling ensure cleaner, higher-quality visuals, particularly useful for footage restoration or upconversion. Performance Enhancements, such as faster playback, distributed rendering, and better integration within host applications, ensure smoother editing and compositing.

Optics 2025 also offers ten categories of Hollywood-ready presets for photographers to use. Users can export, share, and reload Looks, delivering effortless consistency across projects. Ten interface improvements have been made to streamline workflows in Optics 2025, including advanced workspace customization, personalized filter group order, save and share favorites, full-screen mode, compare shortcuts, extended tooltips, and more.

A single license for Optics 2025 grants access to both the Adobe Photoshop/Lightroom plugins and the standalone application. Boris FX Optics 2025 is available as a low-cost subscription ($9/month or $99/year), perpetual license ($149), or upgrade & support plan ($49/year) on Windows and macOS platforms.

Customers with active Optics subscriptions or upgrade & support plans will receive the new 2025 release as a complimentary update. A promotional video for Optics 2025 is available for those who wish to learn more about the new features.
