airBaltic, a Latvian airline, has revealed ambitious plans to equip its entire fleet with Starlink internet by the end of 2023. This follows United Airlines' announcement to do the same, with the first Starlink-equipped flight set to depart from Newark/New York later this year. airBaltic will make history as the first European airline to offer this service, with its inaugural flight scheduled for February 21, 2023, from Riga to Munich, Germany.

Starlink, a satellite constellation operated by SpaceX, will provide high-speed internet to airBaltic's passengers. This innovative service will be more than 65 times closer than conventional geostationary satellites, ensuring a faster and more reliable connection. airBaltic's Airbus A220-300 aircraft will be the first in Europe to offer free Starlink internet, marking a significant milestone in the airline's commitment to technological advancement. United Airlines, on the other hand, plans to equip its entire mainline aircraft fleet with Starlink internet following FAA certification in October 2025.
