AirBaltic has unveiled its 50th Airbus A220-300, adorned with a unique livery celebrating the Baltic region. The design, chosen from over 2,000 proposals, showcases elements from Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania.
AirBaltic, the world's first operator of the A220-300, has ambitious plans to expand its fleet to 100 of these aircraft. The airline held a design competition for the livery of its 50th A220-300, attracting 840 concepts. After careful consideration, 21 designs were shortlisted, and one was selected.
The winning livery, completed in just 18 days, is a vibrant blend of 21 colors. It features an artistic representation of the Latvian flag, a girl with long hair carrying the flag, a ladybug, a swallow, and a stork. These elements pay tribute to the Baltic region. The design was modified to meet the technical requirements of the aircraft, marking a first for the stencil overlay technique.
AirBaltic, the largest A220 customer in Europe and the largest A220-300 operator worldwide, continues to make history with its innovative graphic design. The 50th A220-300, with its unique Baltic-inspired livery, is a testament to the airline's commitment to celebrating its heritage while pushing the boundaries of aircraft design.
