Airtel Nigeria & UNICEF Train 150 Schools in Online Child Safety
Airtel Nigeria and UNICEF have joined forces to ensure a safe and inclusive online environment for children, as digital learning becomes increasingly prevalent. The partnership, under the Reimagine Education Programme, recently conducted an Online Child Safety and Digital Protection Training for Teachers, with overwhelmingly positive results.
The training, held on October 7, was facilitated by Airtel's IT team and UNICEF experts, covering topics such as Digital Privacy and Protection, and Children's Rights in the Digital Age. It was part of the Reimagine Education Programme, which aims to bridge the digital divide while safeguarding children online. The programme seeks to expand internet connectivity in schools, promote digital literacy, privacy awareness, and child protection.
Over 150 public schools benefited from the training, with educators gaining practical skills and up-to-date knowledge to protect learners online. The workshop was conducted by Teach For All, who reported that 99% of teachers felt more confident and had a deeper understanding of online safety for students after the training.
Airtel Nigeria's commitment to making the digital world a place of opportunity, not risk, for every child is evident in their collaboration with UNICEF. The recent training is a testament to their shared goal of creating a safe and inclusive online environment for children, especially as digital learning continues to grow.
