Apple Expands Live Translation to More Languages and Devices

Apple has expanded its Live Translation feature, initially launched on September 15th, 2025, to support more languages and devices. The update, currently available to developers and soon to public beta testers, brings real-time speech and text translation to AirPods 4, Pro 3, Pro 2, and iPhone 15 Pro, along with iOS 26 or later.

Initially supporting English, Spanish, French, German, and Portuguese, Live Translation now adds Japanese, Korean, Italian, and Chinese (both Simplified and Traditional). Users can enjoy this feature across iMessage, FaceTime, and phone calls, even without looking at their devices when using AirPods.

To use Live Translation, users need to download the desired languages beforehand and activate it via Siri or by pressing the AirPod stems simultaneously. While it works best in quieter environments, it may take a moment to translate extended speeches. Some beta users have reported translation discrepancies and slower conversation progress, indicating the feature is still in development.

Apple's Live Translation expansion brings more languages to AirPods and iOS devices, aiding international communication. With ongoing beta testing, the feature is expected to improve, offering real-time, screen-free translation for travelers and multilingual users.
