Audi introduces fresh gaming features and audio innovations

In a groundbreaking move, luxury car manufacturer Audi has teamed up with AirConsole and Dolby Laboratories to redefine the in-car entertainment experience. The collaboration, focused on the 2025 models of the Audi ID series, brings classic AirConsole games directly into the car for a new level of interactive fun on the go.

Starting from July, the Audi ID models will feature AirConsole games, with an innovative feature that syncs the car's lights to the game action, creating a captivating visual experience. Dolby Laboratories contributes to this partnership by providing spatial sound technology, most likely Dolby Atmos, to deliver immersive, high-quality in-car audio that complements the gaming and entertainment experience.

The Dolby Atmos sound system, however, is not a standard feature across all Audi models. It is available only in models equipped with an Android-based infotainment system, which currently includes the A5, Q5, A6, A6 e-tron, and Q6 e-tron. Meanwhile, high-end models such as the Q7, Q8, A8, and e-tron GT will be delivered with the Dolby Atmos sound system starting from July.

The passenger display serves as the "hub" for AirConsole games, and the driver can opt to switch the screen so that the game contents are not visible while driving. The games are played via the central infotainment system of Audi vehicles, with smartphones acting as controllers.

The Dolby Atmos sound system is not limited to gaming or infotainment. It can also be used for music and podcasts, with integrated Audi apps such as Amazon Music, Audible, and Tidal supporting the system.

This collaboration aims to transform the car cabin into an engaging entertainment space, combining visuals, sound, and interactive content. While the exact details about Dolby's spatial sound implementation within Audi vehicles were not specified in the available results, the mention of Dolby Atmos indicates a premium spatial audio system as part of the entertainment upgrade.

The Audi ID models, starting from July, will not only offer AirConsole games but also incorporate Dolby Atmos sound technology for an immersive, high-quality audio experience, enhancing both gaming and entertainment. This partnership aims to redefine the in-car entertainment experience by turning the car cabin into an engaging entertainment space, blending visuals, sound, and interactive content, hence redefining the lifestyle of modern car owners with the integration of technology.
