Australian mining operations could potentially incorporate the Tesla Model Y vehicles.
The Australian electric vehicle (EV) distributor and mining transport logistics provider, AusEV, has expanded its offering of electric fleet vehicles tailored to the mining and resources sector with the addition of the Tesla Model Y.
According to Edward Kocwa, CEO of Bosscap Group, the parent company of AusEV, this move demonstrates the company's commitment to advancing transport options in Australia's industry and resource sectors. Kocwa stated that the Tesla Model Y represents a big leap forward in how the mining sector can transition towards cleaner and smarter fleet solutions.
The Model Ys are imported from the United States and undergo conversion from left-hand-drive to right-hand-drive by Brisbane-based Advanced Manufacturing Queensland (AMQ). Unlike the Ford F-150 Lightning models that AusEV unveiled earlier this year, the Tesla Model Y's are already right-hand-drive capable, given the car's popularity across Australia.
AusEV announced the addition of the Model Y at its WA Drive Day held last week. In partnership with AMQ, the company also performs additional modifications such as installing an extra 12-volt battery and offering solar cells mounted on the bonnet of the car to charge the battery.
The Tesla Model Y, along with the Ford F-150 Lightnings, is now offered by AusEV for the mining and resources sector. The significance of this addition lies in advancing cleaner, smarter, and more efficient transport solutions tailored for demanding industrial environments.
The Model Y's strong performance and safety features, critical for operations in harsh mining and resource settings, make it an attractive choice for the sector. Kocwa emphasised that this addition represents a strategic move to supply reliable, lower-cost-of-ownership, and high-performance electric vehicles (EVs) that simplify integration into Australian fleets compared to previous conversions.
The inclusion of the Model Y broadens AusEV’s fleet offerings, reinforcing Australia's position as a frontrunner in adopting zero-emissions vehicles specifically engineered for resource-intensive industries. This move signifies a substantial step toward modernizing mining fleet transport in Australia with reliable, innovative electric vehicles that meet industry demands for sustainability, efficiency, and durability.

The expansion of AusEV's electric fleet vehicles caters to the mining and resources sector, with the incorporation of electric vehicles (EVs) like the Tesla Model Y. This transition towards innovative EVs like the Model Y, signifies an endeavor to provide a greener, smarter, and more cost-effective lifestyle solution for the mining industry. The integration of technology in vehicles, such as electric-cars including the Model Y, represents a strategic move to sustainability and efficiency in Australia's industrial sector.
