Autonomous Parking System Launched by BYD: Company Vows to Cover Any Financial Losses in China

In a groundbreaking move, Chinese automaker BYD has announced it will take full responsibility for any losses incurred by users in China for all vehicles equipped with its God's Eye smart driving system, specifically in smart parking scenarios. This commitment, made public in July 2025, applies to all Chinese users of vehicles with the God's Eye system when using intelligent parking features.

The God's Eye smart parking system has reached Level 4 autonomy, meaning it can operate the vehicle without human intervention under specific conditions, such as smart parking. This makes BYD the first automaker globally to achieve and assume full responsibility for Level 4 intelligent parking capabilities.

With this pledge, liability for any accidents or damages caused by the God's Eye smart parking feature shifts from the driver to BYD as the manufacturer. Users affected by damages do not need to go through traditional insurance claim processes. Instead, they can directly contact BYD’s after-sales service for resolution, simplifying and speeding up compensation or repairs.

The service related to this coverage costs approximately RMB 239 (around $33 USD) and covers all smart driving scenarios within the smart parking domain, with a maximum compensation limit of RMB 1 million. Accidents occurring within five seconds of disengagement from the Navigate on Pilot (NGP) function are also included in the service.

The commitment applies to all models of vehicles equipped with the God's Eye system, reflecting BYD's strong confidence in their technology. This move demonstrates BYD's absolute technical confidence in the God's Eye system and its commitment to taking full responsibility for consumers.

BYD owns China's largest smart driving vehicle cloud database and operates the world's largest NEV production system. The number of vehicles equipped with the God's Eye system has exceeded 1 million. The greatest benefit for users is that it does not affect next year's insurance premiums.

This comprehensive manufacturer-backed assurance for user safety and loss coverage under specific autonomous operation conditions is a significant step forward in boosting consumer confidence in advanced driver assistance systems.
