DeepRoute.ai, a pioneering startup in autonomous driving from Shenzhen, China, is making waves in the automotive industry with its latest innovation, the DeepRoute IO 2.0 platform. This cutting-edge technology, which has already been successfully implemented in over 100,000 vehicles in China, including robotaxis in cities like Wuhan and Shenzhen, is now being optimised for European road conditions.

The technology, a key component of a partnership with Qualcomm Technologies, is powered by the Snapdragon Ride platform. This platform enables functions such as "navigation on autopilot" in cities, highway assistants, and automated parking. The technology is designed to recognise traffic signs and navigate complex situations like blocked roads or narrow intersections, reacting anticipatorily like a human driver.

DeepRoute.ai showcased the new platform at IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich. However, the legal situation regarding autonomous driving in Europe is complex, with strict licensing procedures and unresolved questions about safety, liability, and trust. Acceptance of autonomous driving technology is also a significant concern in Europe, with many Europeans viewing it with skepticism.

Despite these challenges, DeepRoute.ai is expanding into Europe, aiming to become a significant player in the future of mobility there as well. To achieve this, the company plans to set up its own development center in Germany to adapt solutions to local conditions and work with local partners.

The success of DeepRoute.ai's international expansion in Europe depends not only on technology and costs but also on the willingness of European authorities, manufacturers, and customers to embrace autonomous driving technology. The company has already secured partnerships with German automakers BMW and Audi, as well as Smart and Great Wall Motors (GWM), for the use of DeepRoute IO 2.0.

However, the expansion of digital infrastructure in Europe is lagging behind, which could limit the performance of autonomous driving systems. DeepRoute.ai is partnering with Qualcomm Technologies for the development of cost-effective, high-performance systems for driver assistance and highly automated driving.

As the first series vehicles equipped with DeepRoute.ai's technology are expected to hit the market later this year, the company is poised to revolutionise the European automotive industry with its advanced autonomous driving technology. The VLA model (Vision-Language-Action) at the heart of the DeepRoute IO 2.0 platform connects camera and voice information with specific driving actions, promising a seamless and intuitive driving experience for European motorists.
