Tesla has showcased its Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised feature in a 56-second video posted on August 12, 2025, featuring a Model Y navigating a 362-mile (583km) journey from the San Francisco Bay Area to Los Angeles. The video, sped up for dramatic effect, demonstrates the car's ability to handle complex tasks like traffic stops, merging onto the highway, overtaking other vehicles, and being overtaken, all without the operator touching the steering wheel.

The video ends with the statement "Long road trips have never been easier." However, it's important to note that Tesla's FSD remains a partial automation feature, requiring driver supervision. Drivers must remain alert and ready to take control at all times.

Despite the impressive demonstration, Tesla's FSD still faces regulatory scrutiny and safety concerns, including lawsuits over misleading naming and driver misuse. The version of FSD used for the demo is not revealed, but it may be the same as the one on regular Teslas or the one running on the Robotaxis.

Tesla is actively developing a next-generation FSD model with significantly enhanced video and AI performance, aiming to improve reliability and reduce driver workload further. This advanced model could launch soon, possibly by late August 2025, pending testing outcomes.

In terms of deployment, Tesla has expanded FSD testing and plans releases in new markets like Japan and Thailand, tailoring technology to meet local regulations and safety standards. Tesla has also launched a limited robotaxi pilot in Austin, Texas, operating strictly with a safety driver and invite-only access.

The Model Y's successful journey included a quick charging stop at a Supercharger, demonstrating the vehicle's ability to manage long trips without human intervention. Tesla encourages viewers to try out the FSD Supervised feature, with a referral link offering three months of Full Self-Driving for new buyers.

Despite the advancements, it's crucial to remember that Tesla's FSD is not yet fully autonomous. Drivers should always remain vigilant and ready to take control when necessary.
