Badger, Minnesota, Set for Major Infrastructure Upgrades
Badger, Minnesota, a small community of 417 residents, is preparing for substantial infrastructure enhancements. The town, with the help of the University of Minnesota's Empowering Small Minnesota Communities (ESMC) program, is planning to upgrade its facilities and services.
Badger City Council member Corey Christianson, who also operates local grocery stores, sought assistance from the ESMC program. The program, led by Shannon Stassen, the Northwest RSDP leader at the University of Minnesota, aims to support small communities like Badger in accessing federal, state, and local investments.
Badger has already witnessed improvements with the completion of water tower renovations, replacement of fire hydrants, extension of sewer mains, and installation of smart water meters. Upcoming projects include street repairs, signage enhancements, local campground improvements, housing development, and a new fire department building.
The community-University partnership is not only focused on Badger's downtown development but also on strengthening regional connections with neighboring communities. Badger High School has also benefited from this collaboration, receiving funding for a geothermal system feasibility study and preparing a solar proposal with the University of Minnesota's assistance.
Badger's partnership with the University of Minnesota's ESMC program is expected to bring significant improvements to the town's infrastructure and services. With the support of the program, Badger is poised to attract more investments and enhance its regional connections.
