**Wistron Expands Global AI Production with Major Investments**

Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Wistron is making significant strides in the artificial intelligence (AI) sector, announcing a series of investments aimed at expanding its production capabilities and enhancing research and development (R&D) efforts.

The company has injected US$455 million into Wistron InfoComm (USA) Corp in Dallas, Texas, with most of the funds earmarked for higher-volume assembly at the site. Meanwhile, a new R&D center is being planned in Taipei's Neihu District.

In a move that could potentially increase Wistron's total of AI server facilities to 10, the company has inaugurated a new AI park in Hsinchu County's Jhubei City. Most of the capacity in Jhubei will be dedicated to orders from Nvidia Corp. The Jhubei site is expected to become Wistron's largest global production base for AI servers within one to two years.

The Westport and Eagle sites, known for large-scale production and after-sales services, are also set for expansion. With mass production scheduled for Q1 2023, these sites will play a crucial role in Wistron's AI server production.

Wistron's California site, originally used for medical and industrial control products, will be shifted to AI server development, following an upgrade that will cost US$55.9 million. The upgrade aims to meet the growing demand for AI server production.

WisLab, Wistron's R&D arm, has already conducted pilot runs of AI server production, and the capital injection aims to boost WisLab's capabilities in research and development, testing, and mass production of advanced servers.

Despite concerns over potential US tariffs on Taiwanese goods, the capital injection is not directly tied to these concerns. Wistron continues to mitigate tariff risks through its global deployment and has contingency plans in place. The official did not specify which clients the injection aims to improve cooperation with.

In addition, a site in Dallas, Texas, will handle higher-volume assembly, further strengthening Wistron's global AI production network.

These investments underscore Wistron's commitment to the AI sector and its ambition to become a leading player in the global AI market.

Artificial intelligence (AI) research and development (R&D) efforts at Wistron are set to receive a boost with the company's plans to establish a new R&D center in Taipei's Neihu District. The technology sector stands to benefit significantly as Wistron expands its global AI production network, with its latest investment in Wistron InfoComm (USA) Corp in Dallas, Texas, focusing on higher-volume assembly for AI servers.
