Bosch Announces Major Restructuring, 13,000 Jobs at Risk by 2030

Bosch, the multinational automotive supplier, has announced a significant restructuring plan aiming to close an annual cost gap of around 2.5 billion euros by 2030. This includes a substantial reduction of approximately 13,000 jobs, mainly in Germany, to secure competitiveness in the challenging automotive market. The company's previous measures to improve results have proven insufficient, leading to this latest announcement.

The job cuts will primarily target the Mobility division, with sites in Bavaria being significantly affected. In Waiblingen, for instance, 560 out of 1,000 employees are at risk. This news has alarmed the works council, which is determined to prevent these redundancies. The union has also stepped in, stating its intention to support employees and fight against the job cuts, refusing to leave any site or employee behind.

The restructuring plan will affect various sites across Germany, including those in the southwest. Bosch has confirmed that sites in Stuttgart-Feuerbach, Homburg, and Schwieberdingen are among those targeted. Worldwide, the company aims to cut 13,000 jobs by 2030 as part of its cost reduction measures focusing on productivity improvements, lowering material and capital costs, and optimizing logistics and supply chains.

Bosch's job cuts will deeply impact employees' futures and entire regions. The company's cost reduction measures aim to secure competitiveness in the challenging automotive market. However, the works council and union are committed to fighting against these redundancies, with the union pledging to support employees and prevent job losses where possible.
