Canyon, a bicycle manufacturer, introduces customized service featuring artist-crafted frame designs

Canyon, a renowned bike builder based in Koblenz, Germany, has launched a groundbreaking custom service called MyCanyon. This innovative platform offers extensive personalization, exclusive artist collaborations, and advanced digital tools for a highly tailored bike build experience.

A Playground for Art and Technology

MyCanyon is a culmination of over two decades of development and obsession with modern bicycles. The bike frame has been transformed into a playground for vibrant color and bold structure, with the Aeroad CFR race bike, first introduced in 2010 and updated in 2024, being the first model available for customization via MyCanyon.

The project has seen collaborations with artists like Italian product designer and artist Elena Salmistraro and Argentine/Spanish graffiti artist Felipe Pantone. Pantone's work on the project captured the 'organized chaos' of speed in frame design, refining his signature style and reinforcing the dynamic interplay of color and form.

Unique Design Features

Three artist-designed frame collections are at the heart of MyCanyon: Fabrio, Mano, and Opus. Each collection represents distinct aesthetic and artistic expressions within the customisation programme.

The Opus collection features designs by renowned artists like Salmistraro and Pantone. Salmistraro’s Opus design draws inspiration from concepts of speed, motion, and technology, with gradient effects and kaleidoscopic light reflections to create a dynamic, continuously moving appearance on the frame. It incorporates subtle points of light to evoke speed and freedom, turning the bike into a rolling piece of art.

The Fabrio and Mano collections offer distinctive visual identities for the bike frames. While specific design details are not fully detailed, they join Opus as curated artistic collections available to customers. The Mano collection, in particular, features individually hand-painted designs, ensuring no two bikes will be the same.

Customization Galore

MyCanyon doesn't just offer artistic flair; it also allows customers to tailor major performance features such as the groupset, wheels, tires, saddle, stem length, and even handlebars to optimize fit and function based on personal preferences. Notably, the custom CP0048/CP0049 handlebars enable a lower, more compact riding position, improving aerodynamics and potentially saving up to 14 watts.

An Immersive Digital Platform

The entire customization process happens online or via Canyon’s app, with a smooth interface supported by a 3D augmented reality (AR) visualization tool. Users can spin the bike, zoom in on details, and preview their custom art and components from every angle before purchase. Post-order, customers can track the build progress step-by-step.

Pricing and Availability

Starting at around €10,499, the price varies based on selected finishes and components. Initially launched in the US and Asia, the programme expanded to Europe with the three named collections. MyCanyon by Canyon is launching in the US this month.

In summary, MyCanyon stands out by integrating boutique-style custom paint options with performance-tuned component choices, all accessible via an immersive digital platform featuring exclusive artwork collaborations such as the Opus collection by Elena Salmistraro. Each bike is a unique combination of art, technology, and personalized performance.

Artificial Intelligence is leveraged by MyCanyon's immersive digital platform to provide a 3D augmented reality (AR) visualization tool, enabling customers to visualize their custom art and components from every angle before purchase.

The Opus collection, designed in collaboration with renowned artists like Elena Salmistraro, blends elements of technology into its design, creating a dynamic, continuously moving appearance that reflects the fusion of art and cutting-edge technology.
