CommScope Delivers First Full Duplex DOCSIS Amplifiers to Comcast

CommScope has marked a significant milestone in its multi-year development efforts by delivering the first prototype Full Duplex DOCSIS (FDX) amplifiers to Comcast in February 2023. This advancement is set to enhance Comcast's network capabilities and meet increasing customer demand.

Comcast, represented by Nafshi, has emphasized the importance of evolving hardware and software to cater to its growing customer base. The deployment of CommScope's FDX amplifiers allows Comcast to reach customers with multi-gig symmetrical services, using up to a six-amplifier cascade in its network.

Guy Sucharczuk, SVP and president of Access Network Solutions at CommScope, expressed pride in the deployment milestones achieved with Comcast. The collaboration between the two companies has seen Comcast scale FDX DOCSIS 4.0 to over one million homes across six markets since October 2023. CommScope's FDX amplifiers and Remote PHY Devices (RPD) nodes provide Comcast with the flexibility to upgrade legacy hardware or deploy new hardware as needed.

The delivery of CommScope's FDX amplifiers to Comcast signifies a major step forward in their joint efforts to advance connectivity technology. With successful systems testing and deployment, Comcast expects to accelerate the pace of FDX DOCSIS 4.0 activation, further expanding its multi-gigabit service offerings.
