Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition Comes to Nintendo Switch Online
Nintendo has announced the return of the Nintendo World Championships with a new twist – the Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition is now available on Nintendo Switch Online. This exciting competition allows players to test their skills against others worldwide, local multiplayer, and personal best challenges.
To participate, you'll need an active Nintendo Switch Online membership. This service grants access to NES games, including those used in the championships or challenges. An internet connection is also required for multiplayer participation and to download any necessary updates or DLCs associated with the game challenge.
The competition includes classic NES games like Balloon Fight, Super Mario Bros. 3, Kirby's Adventure, Super Mario Bros. 2, and Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. The challenges featured in the World Championships and Survival modes are Pop It (Balloon Fight), Hammer Bro KO (Super Mario Bros. 3), Fireball Rush (Kirby's Adventure), Leap to the Peak (Super Mario Bros. 2), and Neigh Slayer (Zelda II: The Adventure of Link).
Additional accessories may be required for multiplayer mode, which are sold separately. Replays of the top runs for each challenge from last week's competition are available for viewing, providing insights to improve personal times.
Participants can check their overall placement and rank against other players in their birth year after the competition. Membership for Nintendo Switch Online auto-renews after the initial term unless canceled. Terms apply to the use of Nintendo Switch Online.
For the latest instructions on joining the events, it's recommended to check Nintendo’s official channels or the Switch Online service notifications. Happy gaming!
