Last year, the collaboration between these heavy-hitters of the trucking industry was first hinted at. Spearheading the software drive for Daimler Truck, the new CEO, Karin Radström, declared a decisive focus on the development of software solutions for commercial vehicles. Volvo CEO, Martin Lundstedt, countered this announcement with enthusiasm, saying that this joint venture demonstrates their shared commitment to crafting sustainable and intelligent transportation solutions.
While Daimler Truck and Volvo will remain fierce competitors on the market, they'll keep offering separate product and service portfolios, including their unique digital solutions. Beyond their ongoing rivalry, they're also teaming up in the realm of fuel cells. The newly-minted company, Torcura, starts off with 50 employees residing in Gothenburg, organized under Volvo manager, Johan Lunden.
