Data I/O Corporation Hit by Ransomware Attack, Operations Disrupted

Data I/O Corporation has been struck by a ransomware attack, with some of its internal IT systems affected and operations temporarily disrupted. The incident occurred on August 16, 2025, and the company has since taken steps to investigate and mitigate the impact.

Following the attack, Data I/O promptly took parts of its systems offline and initiated an investigation. The company has also engaged a multitude of cybersecurity experts from various firms to assist in the process. These include WithSecure, SonicBee GmbH, BlueVoyant Ltd, NTT DATA Deutschland, Beazley Security, HiddenLayer, Recorded Future GmbH, Zero Networks, Fraunhofer-Institut für Offene Kommunikationssysteme, WALLIX, and Anomali, Inc.

The attack has led to temporary disruptions in operations, affecting communication, shipping, receiving, and manufacturing. While Data I/O works to restore affected systems, there's no clear timeline for a full recovery yet. The company has warned that recovery and advisory costs could significantly impact its financial results and operations.

Data I/O has filed a report with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regarding the incident. The full scope and impact of the attack are still being determined as investigations continue.
