Debut of Solar-Powered Electric Bus by our organization and Pepper
In a groundbreaking development, Sono Group N.V. and pepper motion GmbH have teamed up to debut an electric bus equipped with solar technology, marking a significant step towards the mission of "solar on every vehicle."
Based in Munich, pepper motion GmbH specialises in developing innovative solar-powered mobility solutions, integrating solar technology into electric vehicles to extend range or provide auxiliary power. The collaboration with Sono Group, an international OEM for the electrification of used and new vehicles, is a new milestone project in this pursuit.
The solar bus kit, installed on an electrified Mercedes-Benz Citaro, features 14 semi-flexible solar modules. This installation is anticipated to generate 3.3 kWh of energy per day on average, based on weather conditions in Munich. When solar energy supply is insufficient, the e-bus' DC/DC charger takes over energy supply to ensure continuous operation.
The electric bus is ISO 9001 certified and adheres to international automotive industry safety standards, ensuring operational safety. Sono Group's disruptive solar technology can be integrated into various vehicle architectures, paving the way for climate-friendly mobility.
The partnership supports Sono Group's mission to make every vehicle solar. By leveraging renewable solar energy, the collaboration aims to reduce carbon footprint and operational costs, promoting innovation in vehicle electrification integrated with sustainable energy.
The test phase for this project has commenced across Europe and will last for two years. For media inquiries, please visit press@our website, and for investor relations, visit ir@our website.
