DEWA & Siemens Energy Launch Phase 2 of AI-Powered Plant Intelligent Controller Project
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Siemens Energy have launched the second phase of their AI-powered Plant Intelligent Controller project at the Jebel Ali Power and Desalination Complex. The project, initiated during the 27th Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) in Dubai, aims to enhance efficiency, save fuel, and reduce carbon emissions.
The Plant Intelligent Controller, developed by Emirati specialists with Siemens Energy, uses AI and digital twin-based closed-loop systems to optimize performance and adapt dynamically to grid demands. DEWA's Executive Vice President Nasser Lootah and Siemens Energy Senior Vice President Waheed Abbasi formalized the deal, which was overseen by DEWA's MD & CEO HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer. Lootah noted the exceptional results achieved so far in improving operational efficiency and reducing emissions through AI and machine learning. Al Tayer highlighted the project's alignment with Dubai's vision for sustainable development and AI-driven infrastructure. Abbasi emphasized AI's transformative role in the energy sector, enabling cleaner and more reliable power and accelerating progress toward net-zero emissions.
The second phase of the AI-powered Plant Intelligent Controller project, a collaboration between DEWA and Siemens Energy, is set to further boost efficiency and reduce emissions at the Jebel Ali Power and Desalination Complex. With the support of DEWA's leadership and the expertise of Emirati specialists, the project continues to drive Dubai's sustainable development goals.
