Dragonfly Energy Lands $300K DOE Grant to Boost Nevada's Battery Manufacturing
Dragonfly Energy, a leading battery manufacturer, is set to receive a significant boost with an initial grant from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). The company, based in Nevada, has been selected by Nevada Tech Hub for first-round funding, aiming to strengthen the state's lithium battery supply chain and support workforce development.
The grant, totaling approximately $300,000, will be used by Dragonfly Energy for manufacturing upgrades and workforce development initiatives. Key projects include advancing towards ISO 9001 certification, modernizing production systems, and upgrading battery manufacturing lines. The company also plans to recruit and upskill production floor personnel, expanding career opportunities in machining, automation, and maintenance.
Dick Bartholet, regional innovation officer for Nevada Tech Hub, emphasizes the importance of supporting industry leaders like Dragonfly Energy. He believes that the grant will not only enhance the company's manufacturing capacity but also address its training needs in battery manufacturing. Dragonfly Energy's CEO, Dr. Denis Phares, sees this award as an investment in Nevada's future and the state's lithium battery innovation center vision.
The contract finalization is in progress, with the expected award total of approximately $300,000. Dragonfly Energy, with the support of Nevada Tech Hub and the DOE, is poised to strengthen its manufacturing capabilities and workforce, contributing significantly to Nevada's lithium battery supply chain and innovation.
