DTS Unveils 'Clear Dialogue' AI Tech for TVs, Boosting Viewer Experience

DTS, Inc., a subsidiary of Xperi, has unveiled 'DTS Clear Dialogue', a groundbreaking on-device solution designed to enhance dialogue clarity in TV audio. The technology, set to debut at IFA in Berlin from September 6 to 10, has already sparked interest, with 79% of U.S. consumers expressing more interest in smart TVs offering this feature. Hisense, a leading TV brand, will be the first to integrate this solution into its devices.

DTS Clear Dialogue employs AI-based audio processing to tackle common issues like inconsistent audio, environmental noise, and individual hearing abilities. It's designed to be language-inclusive and content-agnostic, identifying, separating, and enhancing dialogue for better understanding. The solution is particularly useful in situations where actors don't speak clearly, non-dialogue audio elements are loud, viewers prefer a lower volume, or the TV-watching environment is noisy.

The technology allows users to create personalized profiles, tailoring dialogue and non-dialogue settings to suit individual needs, hearing impairments, listening environments, and audio preferences. This comes as no surprise, given that 84% of U.S. consumers have experienced trouble understanding dialogue during TV shows and movies, with 77% relying on captions/subtitles and 30% always or often.

DTS Clear Dialogue promises to revolutionize the TV audio experience. With Hisense set to implement this solution, consumers can look forward to clearer dialogue and a more enjoyable viewing experience. The technology's personalization features and broad appeal, as evidenced by the high consumer interest, suggest that it could become a standard feature in smart TVs.
