Lime, the world's largest shared electric vehicle company, is set to revolutionise urban mobility with the debut of its latest innovation - the Gen4 electric bike. This new model, part of Lime's Gen4 lineup, is set to launch in Baltimore and expand to almost a dozen cities across Europe and North America in the coming months.

The Gen4 e-bikes boast a range of up to 40 miles, making them suitable for longer trips. They are also 40% lighter and 50% more energy-efficient than older models, contributing to operational efficiency and user experience. While specific safety features are not detailed in the latest announcements, Lime's focus on safety is evident from product improvements such as the addition of high-visibility reflectors.

The e-bikes provide an affordable and convenient alternative to traditional transportation methods, reducing reliance on cars. By encouraging sustainable transportation, Lime contributes to a decrease in urban pollution and traffic congestion. The use of a mobile app for locating, unlocking, and paying for rides enhances user convenience.

Baltimore has been chosen as one of the first cities to debut the new e-bikes due to its investments in infrastructure, including designated bike lanes and parking. Providing micromobility is "integral" to the city's transportation infrastructure, and the launch aims to help "close transit gaps across the city."

Lime users have taken more than 3.7 million rides in Baltimore since 2017, and e-bike usage in the city has almost doubled since 2024. In 2025, Baltimore users have taken around 428,008 e-scooter rides and 78,889 e-bike rides. Lime President Joe Kraus stated that during pilots, the LimeBike earned the love of riders and saw many repeat users.

Lime plans to deploy more than 10,000 e-bike vehicles in these cities, marking one of the first worldwide debuts for the new product. The company is likely to choose locations with high demand for micromobility solutions, following its global presence. Apart from Baltimore, specific cities have not been named in recent announcements, but Atlanta was one of the first cities to launch a new e-bike model by Lime.

In summary, Lime's new electric bike model offers a range of benefits, including affordability, convenience, and environmental advantages. The Gen4 e-bikes are designed for user-friendliness, with features such as a swappable battery system, a lightweight design, and high-visibility reflectors. By choosing cities with investments in infrastructure and high demand for micromobility solutions, Lime aims to make dockless vehicles convenient and accessible to all, contributing to a more sustainable and efficient urban transportation landscape.

  1. As Lime introduces the Gen4 electric bikes, a more sustainable approach to urban mobility becomes increasingly accessible, with the option to choose electric-vehicles over traditional cars or rail travel.
  2. With Baltimore's investment in infrastructure, such as bike lanes and parking, Lime's deployment of more than 10,000 e-bikes will seamlessly integrate with the city's transportation system, enhancing the overall lifestyle by reducing pollution and traffic congestion.
  3. In the near future, technology-driven advancements in gadgets like Lime's Gen4 e-bikes will no longer be luxuries, but essential components in our day-to-day lives, shaping the way we navigate and utilize our cities accordingly.
