Electric and hybrid variants of the Hyundai Ioniq now available for purchase at authorized Hyundai dealerships across the UK.
Hyundai's foray into the electrified sector in Europe has begun, with the Ioniq model now on sale in the UK. The Ioniq, revealed at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, is available in three variants: BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle), Hybrid, and Plug-in Hybrid.
The Ioniq Electric, priced at £31,450 for the Premium SE variant in the UK, will be available to all dealers next year. Business buyers can already purchase the Ioniq Plug-in, with its release date set for October 13. The starting price for the Ioniq Hybrid is £19,995, and £24,495 for the Ioniq Electric (after taxpayer bribe).
Tony Whitehorn, Hyundai UK CEO, has described the Ioniq launch as a landmark for the company. The Ioniq offers a relatively normal style, appealing to family buyers, and comes equipped with a range of standard features including alloys, DAB, Bluetooth, Cruise, Rear View Camera, Emergency Braking, and Lane Keep Assist.
The Ioniq Electric features a slab of grey plastic where the grille should be, which some may find unpleasant. However, the vehicle boasts more boot space than the Prius, making it an attractive option for families.
The Ioniq Electric and Ioniq Hybrid are already available at Hyundai's UK dealers, but the starting price for the Hyundai Ioniq Plug-in has not been specified. The Ioniq, with its combination of specifications, style, and practicality, is set to make a significant impact in the UK's electrified vehicle market.
