When in search of something fresh, its AI recommendation wizard takes the reins, guiding you towards tunes that match your perceived musical soulmate. Want to ensure you're getting the cream of the crop from this ocean of audio? Here's how to tweak the AI algorithm to your liking:
Dive into the Shadows
Feel like blasting The Wiggles in private? No judgement here! Enable private listening, which keeps your playtime mystery wrapped up neatly. No fear of embarrassing your musical taste or seeing your play history logged.
Private listening isn't available on the web player, but fear not! You can turn it on using the desktop and mobile apps. On desktop, click on your profile pic (top right), then toggle "Private session." On mobile, open the Home tab, tap on your profile pic (top left), navigate to "Privacy and Social" to find the private session toggle.
Note that you can only start a private session from the device you're playing Spotify on. Once you restart the app or after six hours, the secret session finishes.

Curiously, when you see the same icon next to an album or playlist, it adds the item to your personal library instead. Both methods inform the algorithms about your musical preferences and feed into the recommendations you see.
