ESPN Plus undergoes drastic transformations: vital information unveiled
ESPN is set to launch a new streaming service on August 21, 2023, named simply "ESPN". This marks the first time that ESPN's cable channels can be streamed over the air from one service.
The new platform offers access to all ESPN networks, including ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SECN, ACCN, ESPNEWS, ESPN Deportes, ESPN on ABC, ESPN+, ESPN3, SECN+, and ACCNX. It also includes the NFL Network and NFL RedZone through a deal with NFL+ Premium, expanding the content offering to include WWE premium events, U.S. Open, international soccer, volleyball, women's college soccer, WNBA playoffs, PLL playoffs, and NBA and NHL seasons.
The service provides a more personalized, dynamic viewing experience with new features like updated multiview, live game stats, betting information, and more. These upgrades will be available to existing ESPN Plus subscribers.
The monthly subscription for the full "unlimited" access plan to all ESPN channels and content is $29.99. There will also be a cheaper tier available for $11.99 per month, which will offer the same content as ESPN Plus.
In an interesting move, starting October 2, ESPN's service can be bundled with Fox's new streaming service, FOX ONE, in a package costing $39.99 monthly, offering an even broader sports and entertainment lineup.
For existing ESPN Plus subscribers, there will be no change as they will be rolled over to the cheaper tier. The higher tier of the new ESPN service will be available in two bundles: one with ad-supported Disney Plus and Hulu for $35.99 per month, and another that drops the ads on those two streamers for $44.99.
It's important to note that the new ESPN service is not the same as Venu Sports, which previously announced a combo streamer but then fell apart. The new service will launch on August 21, 2023, with an introductory offer reducing the former tier to $29.99 per month for the first year.
