EVO AG Appoints Dr. Catharina Friedrich as New CTO
EVO AG has appointed Dr. Catharina Friedrich as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO), effective April 1, 2026. Dr. Friedrich brings extensive experience in the energy industry to the role, having held various positions at companies such as Westnetz GmbH, Netzgesellschaft Südwestfalen, and Rheinische Energie AG (Rhenag).
Dr. Friedrich, a graduate mathematician who earned her doctorate at the Institute for Electrical Energy Supply and High Voltage Technology at TU Dresden, will oversee power plants, wind energy, networks, safety, and environmental protection at EVO AG. Her appointment was praised by Dr. Gabriele Clemens, chairman of the EVO supervisory board, who commended her high professional competence and strategic vision.
Dr. Friedrich's career in the energy sector before joining EVO AG remains largely unknown. However, her recent role as CEO of the digital startup digikoo GmbH in 2024 demonstrates her versatility and leadership skills. Erik Niedenthal, chairman of the works council, and Dr. Felix Schwenke, Offenbach's mayor and deputy chairman of the supervisory board, both approved her appointment. Dr. Friedrich succeeds Günther Weiß, who will retire after extending his contract by three months.
