Ex-Politician Oezdemir Building His Own Lego Spaceship
Former Minister Özdemir to Construct a Lego Spaceship - Ex-Minister Özdemir envisions constructing a Lego spacecraft.
Getting things done efficiently is part of being a top politician's handbook. So, it makes sense that ex-Federal Minister, Cem Oezdemir, would take on an exciting project - building a Lego spaceship.
"Fingers crossed I can find the time for this. Once I've built it, it'll be displayed proudly in my new office here in Stuttgart," Oezdemir shared with the German Press Agency in Stuttgart. The building set, containing 717 pieces suitable for ages seven and up, was a gift from Dorothee Baer (CSU), who took over the Research Ministry from Oezdemir. He temporarily managed both the Ministry of Agriculture and the Research Ministry after the coalition breakup.
With an eye on his home state of Baden-Württemberg, Oezdemir is moving back from Berlin. He aims to be the Green Party's top candidate in the state election next year, as Minister President Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) will not seek re-election. Oezdemir ambitions to succeed Kretschmann.
The spacecraft aligns perfectly with Oezdemir's new role. "This is a fantastic symbol," Oezdemir says. "I want to push for air and space travel policies in the state. Currently, 40% of space-related jobs are based in Baden-Württemberg."

Insight: While Cem Özdemir has been committed to environmental and social justice issues, there's no concrete evidence suggesting Lego spacecrafts or space travel have been a part of his political agenda. It appears that the focus on space travel in Baden-Württemberg is more about economic and educational development than any politician's personal initiatives involving Lego.
The Commission is also proposing to extend the scope of the programme to include science and technology, recognizing the potential benefits of such initiatives, especially in areas like space-and-astronomy, as seen in Cem Oezdemir's endeavor to build a Lego spaceship in Stuttgart, signaling his commitment towards pushing for air and space travel policies in the state of Baden-Württemberg.
