Food Summit focused on sustainability makes comeback in Singapore
The Sustainable Foods Summit, a leading event focusing on global ethical product industries, is set to return to Singapore on 25-26th February 2025. Since its inception in 2009, the summit has been at the forefront of covering major sustainability developments in the food industry. This year, the event will take place at the ParkRoyal Collection Marina Bay Singapore.
The summit's agenda will cover a wide range of topics, including sustainability developments, ingredient innovations, future trends, and marketing insights. One of the key highlights will be the keynote by Professor William Chen, who will deliver a talk titled "Moving Towards Sustainable Food Systems."
The keynote will delve into various approaches to sustainable food production, such as upcycling, regenerative agriculture, urban farming, cellular agriculture, vertical farming, and precision fermentation. The panel will discuss the challenges and opportunities in implementing sustainable agricultural practices across the region.
Another panel will delve into marketing issues associated with sustainable food and beverages. The discussion will focus on obstacles and ways to raise consumer demand for sustainable products. Participants in this panel include Vikas Garg of Abillion and Ding Jie Tan from Prefered.
The summit will also feature demonstrations and presentations from various companies. For instance, Somsubhra GanChoudhuri, Founder & CEO of Ai Palette, will demonstrate how AI can be used by food and beverage companies to identify suitable ingredients and create sustainable products.
Dole Specialty Ingredients, a pioneer in valorising waste materials into new food ingredients, will also present at the summit. The company's work in this area is expected to provide valuable insights into the potential of waste reduction in the food industry.
In addition, Vikas Garg will showcase a mobile app that helps consumers find plant-based foods and encourages sustainable choices. The app is expected to be a valuable tool for consumers looking to make more environmentally friendly food choices.
Nikolaos Stantzos from PUR will discuss the challenges of implementing regenerative agriculture projects, while Calisa Lim from the APAC Society for Cellular Agriculture will give an update on cultured meat and seafood, emphasising regulatory developments.
The Singapore company Prefered will highlight its work in developing bean-free coffee, showcasing the potential for innovation in traditional food and beverage products.
