Free Digital Guides for Seniors Launch in Gütersloh

The 'Di@-Guides' project, backed by the state of Hesse, is expanding its services in Gütersloh. The network 'DiA – Digital im Alter' is seeking volunteers to teach older adults how to use smartphones, tablets, or personal laptops. The service is offered at the House of Seniors and can also take place in the older person's home.

The volunteer digital guides, known as 'Digitallotsen', will be trained by the Institute for Media Pedagogy and Communication of Hesse. They will be coordinated by the Aging Coordination Center of Rüsselsheim am Main. The digital guides will assist older people in operating their smartphones or tablets safely and confidently.

Interested parties in Gütersloh can contact the coordination office at the House of Seniors from September 16th to access this service. After contacting the office, a suitable digital guide will be matched with the individual. The coordination office can be reached by phone at 06142 83-2120 or by email at [email protected]. The use of the digital guides is completely free of charge.

The 'Di@-Guides' project aims to bridge the digital divide by providing trained volunteers to support older adults in Gütersloh. The network 'DiA – Digital im Alter', involving the city library, the adult education center, senior citizen representatives, and various partner organizations, is committed to helping older adults improve their digital skills.
