GatesAir to Present Fresh DAB+ Transmission System Architecture
GatesAir Unveils Highly Efficient DAB+ Transmitter Infrastructure
GatesAir, a leading provider of wireless, over-the-air content delivery solutions for radio and TV broadcasters worldwide, is set to showcase its new DAB+ transmitter infrastructure at IBC2025. This innovative technology promises to significantly improve transmitter efficiency by up to 50 percent or more.
Key features of the new infrastructure include:
- Improved Power Efficiency: With efficiency levels of up to 50 percent or more, the new DAB+ transmitters are designed to reduce operating costs and energy consumption, making them a cost-effective solution for broadcasters and network operators.
- Adjustable Voltage Capabilities: The new power supplies in the transmitters come with adjustable voltage capabilities, allowing for precise power consumption optimization.
- Enhanced Signal Quality: The technology reduces modulation error ratios (MER) by approximately 5 dB, contributing to improved signal quality and efficiency.
- Enterprise-Level Connectivity: The transmitters optimize EDI connectivity for enterprise-level contribution and distribution, enhancing network management for large DAB deployments. This includes access to Intraplex ultra-low-latency IP transport.
- Legacy PowerSmart Architecture: The new DAB+ transmitter architecture builds upon GatesAir's nearly 20-year legacy PowerSmart architecture, which combines improvements in power amplifiers, power supplies, and digital controls into a holistic energy-efficient system.
The new infrastructure is set to be part of GatesAir's Maxiva digital radio and VHF TV products and will cover a range of transmitters, including air- and liquid-cooled models like the VAX-T, VAX-OP, PMTX-1 outdoor transmitters, and MultiD multicarrier systems.
This innovative technology positions GatesAir as a leader in digital radio transmission, offering real cost and labor savings for broadcasters and network operators seeking high efficiency and return on investment in their DAB and DAB+ networks.
