ERGO Partners with CamCom Technologies for AI-Powered Visual Inspection Solution

ERGO Group AG, one of the largest insurance groups in Germany and Europe, has announced a strategic partnership with CamCom Technologies, an award-winning computer vision company headquartered in Bengaluru, India. This collaboration marks a significant step for both companies, as they aim to revolutionise the insurance sector with an AI-powered visual inspection solution.

The partnership is aligned with ERGO's broader ambition to be the digital leader in insurance by 2025. The solution, already live in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, will undergo phased rollouts across other ERGO markets in Europe. HDFC ERGO, a leading private sector general insurance company in India, will be a key player in this initiative.

HDFC ERGO offers a complete range of General Insurance products in the retail and corporate space. Their technology platform has empowered customers to avail services digitally on a 24×7 basis, with 70%+ claims for retail products intimated digitally and over 80% of service interactions being catered digitally, of which 10% are AI led.

CamCom Technologies' platform is the primary technology partner for ERGO Group AG's AI-powered visual inspection solution. The solution uses smartphone images to assess vehicle and property damage with high accuracy and scalability across multiple European markets. CamCom contributes its proprietary Large Vision Model (LVM), described as the world's first domain-specific AI engine specialized in defect and damage detection on surfaces. This AI model is trained on over 450 million customer-validated images, enabling ERGO customers to capture and upload images remotely, facilitating accurate, auditable, and scalable damage assessments.

The partnership signals CamCom's growing global footprint and affirms its position as a world-class platform delivering enterprise-ready AI solutions. The platform complies with region-specific regulations, including GDPR in Europe and IRDAI guidelines in India. The solution allows insurance customers to capture and upload images of vehicles or properties via their smartphones, enabling pre-inspection and damage assessments that are accurate, auditable, and scalable.

This collaboration is a significant example of India's deep-tech impact on the global insurance sector. The solution enhances efficiency, transparency, and reduces subjectivity for insurers and customers alike. The platform is currently deployed by over 15 insurance companies across the globe.

ERGO, represented in over 20 countries worldwide, with a focus on Europe and Asia, generated insurance revenue of €20.8bn in the 2024 financial year, resulting in €810m. The partnership is subject to IRDAI approvals.
