Google Maps Redesigns Android App for Better User Experience
Google Maps has rolled out significant changes to its Android app, version 25.39. The update, part of Google's 'Material 3 Expressive' user interface, brings a fresh look to key buttons for location and directions.
The most noticeable changes include the relocation of buttons like 'Plan route', 'Save', or 'Call' to the bottom of the screen. Meanwhile, tabs such as 'Overview', 'Reviews', and 'Photos' have moved to the top bar above the image preview. This new layout aims to improve user experience and accessibility.
The location button has also seen a transformation. When not viewing live position, it changes from an empty arrow to a blue dot. When live position is active, the button is now housed in a rounded square with a compass icon. Additionally, the layers icon for switching map types now features a 'plus' in its design.
These updates are part of Google's ongoing efforts to enhance the user interface and functionality of Google Maps. The changes are widely rolled out in the latest Android version of the app.
