Google's $4B Arkansas Data Center to Bring Jobs, Solar Power, and AI Education

Tech giant Google is set to establish its first data center in Arkansas, partnering with Entergy to develop a substantial solar project and battery storage system. The $4 billion infinite campus in West Memphis is expected to bring significant investment and job opportunities to the region.

The infinite campus, spanning over 1,000 acres, will be powered by a 600-megawatt solar project and a 350-megawatt battery storage system, a collaboration with Entergy Arkansas. This will be Google's first data center in the state and a critical hub for powering its AI and cloud services.

The project is anticipated to create hundreds of operations roles and thousands of construction jobs, providing a significant boost to the local economy. West Memphis Mayor Marco McLendon sees this as an opportunity for the city's future, investment, and education. Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders considers it one of the largest investments ever in the state.

In addition to the economic benefits, Google will provide free access to its AI courses and career certifications for Arkansas residents and local colleges. This initiative aligns with Google Cloud's broader expansion, with its annual revenue run rate exceeding $50 billion.

The project, set to be powered by a large-scale solar project and battery storage system, is expected to deliver over $1.1 billion in net benefits and reduce rates for local customers.
