Razmik Hovaghimian, a prominent Armenian entrepreneur based in Silicon Valley, is leading a groundbreaking $500 million investment project to establish a cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) data center in Armenia. This initiative, which involves a public-private partnership with the Armenian government, NVIDIA, and local tech companies, aims to create a highly efficient and scalable data infrastructure, positioning the country as a regional AI hub.

The project's goal is to build the region’s most powerful AI-driven Supercomputing Hub and data processing center, with plans to deploy thousands of NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs and reach over 100 megawatts of power capacity by 2026. This ambitious project is expected to significantly boost Armenia’s technological capacity and elevate its standing in the global tech ecosystem.

The AI data center is designed to foster collaboration with top universities and incubate the next generation of AI innovators in Armenia. Razmik Hovaghimian, co-founder and CEO of Firebird.ai and Play Time Sports-Tech Holding, described the investment as building “a launchpad for innovation—from Armenia to the world.”

NVIDIA’s CEO, Jensen Huang, has highlighted the initiative as essential infrastructure for the 21st century, anticipating that it will unlock new opportunities in innovation and economic growth for Armenia and the surrounding region. This project supports Armenia’s strategic goal of advancing its technological ecosystem, innovation potential, and global tech partnerships, with the full support of the Armenian government led by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

Razmik Hovaghimian's involvement in the project is significant, given his extensive experience in the tech industry. He has held senior leadership positions at the Japanese tech giant Rakuten and has been involved in several successful tech ventures. His co-founding roles at Firebird.ai and Play Time Sports-Tech Holding further demonstrate his commitment to innovation and digital solutions at the intersection of sports and technology.

In addition to his business endeavours, Razmik Hovaghimian is actively engaged in social and educational projects. His recent citizenship grant from the Republic of Armenia is a testament to his influence in the tech industry and his commitment to his homeland. The event was officially marked by Armenia's Minister of High-Tech Industry, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, who handed over Razmik Hovaghimian's passport during the ceremony.

This transformative milestone in Armenia's tech development builds on existing partnerships and promotes the country as a competitive player in the global AI landscape.
