Hyundai Motor Company Unveils World's Fastest Humanoid Robot

Hyundai Motor Company has made a significant stride in the world of robotics with the unveiling of the HMND 01 Alpha, the fastest humanoid robot in the world. This remarkable machine was developed by London-based robotics and AI company, Humanoid, in just seven months.

The HMND 01 Alpha robot is a testament to Humanoid's expertise in building world-class robotic systems. The company's founder, Artem Sokolov, highlighted the UK's rare level of expertise in this field as a key factor in their rapid development.

Powered by AI-driven, end-to-end reasoning, the HMND 01 Alpha robot is equipped with a powerful "robotic brain" that allows it to think and act autonomously. It can adapt in real time to people and surroundings, run multiple AI workflows, and handle large-scale generative AI models simultaneously.

The robot stands at nearly 87 inches (220 centimeters) tall and boasts a reach that extends from floor level to two meters high, with shelf depths of up to 23.6 inches (60 centimeters). It can carry payloads of 33 lbs (15 kilograms) or more, making it a valuable asset in industrial settings.

The HMND 01 Alpha robot's features are not limited to its physical structure. Its head is fitted with 360-degree RGB cameras and dual depth sensors for comprehensive perception. The robot also incorporates NVIDIA's Isaac Sim and Cosmos synthetic data generation tools, further enhancing its capabilities.

The HMND 01 Alpha prototype is designed to perform complex tasks in logistics, retail, and manufacturing. It can reach speeds of up to 4.4 miles (7.2 kilometers) per hour, making it the fastest-developed humanoid robot in history.

The HMND 01 Alpha prototype is a UK-made robot, powered by NVIDIA's Jetson Thor platform. Humanoid, a year-old company with a team of about 170 world-class engineers, roboticists, and AI experts, completed two real-world Proofs of Concept (POCs) before assembling the prototype.

The HMND 01 Alpha robot's end-effectors can be fitted with either a 12-DOF five-fingered hand or a 1-DOF parallel gripper, providing it with the versatility needed to tackle a wide range of tasks.

The HMND 01 Alpha robot was unveiled by Humanoid on September 18, marking a significant milestone in the company's mission to revolutionize the way industries operate with advanced robotics and AI technology.
