Guide for Audio Overdubbing a Production
In today's global digital era, content internationalization is more important than ever. Kapwing, a leading online video editing platform, recognizes this need and has developed a Dubbing platform that supports over 40 different languages for dubbing, including Arabic, Bulgarian, Chinese, and many more.
With Kapwing, users can download the translated captions as an SRT file, ensuring seamless integration with their projects. The platform also supports automatic speech recognition (ASR) and captioning, machine translation, and translation rules that can be added manually or uploaded to leverage an existing translation glossary.
Kapwing offers around 180 AI voices varying by age, gender, style, and accent, covering 49 languages. Users can select different voices for multiple speakers in a video, contributing to a natural and true-to-life dubbed experience. Voice cloning enables users to create text-to-speech tracks using their own voice or upload a voice of their choice.
The Dubbing platform features advanced timing and speed adjustments technology to match the original timing of the video, lip sync technology to align dubbed speech with lip movements, and the ability to preserve background sounds. It also supports uploaded SRT files and Slavic, Arabic, and RTL languages.
Other notable features include the ability to edit text captions before dubbing, add custom translation rules or glossaries, and select dialect-specific languages and custom pronunciations. However, Kapwing does not support emotive voice modulations within the same voice clone, bulk import/export of multiple videos, or programmatic API dubbing.
To use a custom voice or voice clone, the user must be a Business customer and save the voice in the Brand Kit. To dub a video on Kapwing, follow these steps: Upload the video, click the "Translate" tab, click "Dub Video", unselect unwanted media, select the original and target languages, choose a stock voice or clone the original voice, and click "Dub Video".
Kapwing's AI-powered lip sync feature changes the lips of the speaker to match the new synthetic text, and users can proofread the transcription and translation before processing the text-to-speech file. Voice cloning is not supported in some languages, including Kannada, Lithuanian, Malayalam, Slovak, Tamil, Telugu, Turkish, and Ukrainian.
In summary, Kapwing's Dubbing platform offers a robust solution for quick and realistic multilingual dubbing workflows, suitable especially for creators and teams needing efficient translation and dubbing with high-quality voice synthesis and lip-syncing.
