Guide on Acquiring Nvidia's GeForce RTX 5080 and 5090 Before They Sell Out

Get ready for the latest addition to Nvidia's GPU family, the RTX 50-series SUPER GPUs. The anticipated launch is slated for the holiday season of 2025, marking an earlier release than initially speculated.

According to reports, the RTX 50-series SUPER GPUs are expected to hit the market between October and December 2025. This tighter release schedule, compared to previous SUPER-series launches, has been attributed to Nvidia's efforts to expedite the release of these new GPUs.

However, the market context suggests potential challenges due to scalpers and shortage issues. While direct information on the scalper effects or shortage-driven price increases specific to the RTX 50-series SUPER GPUs is not explicitly detailed, it's worth noting that historically, new GPU launches, especially high-demand Nvidia models, often face supply constraints leading to shortages and scalper-driven price hikes.

In an attempt to mitigate these issues, Nvidia has recently cut prices on RTX 50-series GPUs significantly. This price cut could temporarily improve availability and affordability before the SUPER series arrives. However, given the high interest and VRAM increases (up to 50% VRAM boost with up to 24GB GDDR7 memory), there is a plausible risk of shortage-related price inflation once the SUPER cards launch.

The new SUPER refresh models come with substantially upgraded specs—higher VRAM and increased power draw/boost clocks—which generally drive strong demand and can tighten supply further. As a result, the RTX 5090, the top-tier model in the series, might have limited stock, with plentiful stock potentially not available for at least three months. The RTX 5080, a lower-tier model, might have slightly better availability, but it could still be a prime target for scalpers.

For those looking to secure an RTX 50-series GPU at launch, it's advisable to check if the site has a special reservation process or pre-order availability. Retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, Newegg, B&H, and various electronics stores are expected to have these GPUs available for purchase. Nvidia's official website will also offer the RTX 5080 GPU for $999.
