Toyota and Charoen Pokphand Group Collaborate on Hydrogen-Powered Commercial Vehicles in Thailand

Toyota and Charoen Pokphand Group (CP), Thailand's largest private company, have announced a new collaboration aimed at achieving carbon neutrality through the adoption of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (FCVs) in commercial transport sectors. The partnership, which was announced in December 2024, is part of Toyota's vision of a hydrogen society and a significant step towards Thailand's transition to carbon neutrality.

The collaboration, which is taking place in Thailand, is focused on accelerating the adoption of hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles. Although specific product launches or pilot projects have not been detailed, the joint effort clearly targets the scaling of hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles to reduce carbon emissions in Thailand's transport industry.

The collaboration involves the use of hydrogen-powered forklifts and fuel trucks, with hydrogen cylinders being loaded onto the fuel trucks as part of the project. An FCEV heavy-duty truck is also being driven as part of the collaboration.

The shop floor where the hydrogen-powered forklift is being used may look familiar to Japanese viewers, as it is reminiscent of staff cafeterias around the world and their diverse menus and cultures, as featured in Toyota Times News.

The collaboration is led by a familiar face, and further possibilities for biogas are being explored. The collaboration aims to work towards carbon neutrality, with commercial vehicles expected to play a leading role in shaping the future.

The latest update on this collaboration was reported by Toyota Times News, and it is clear that this partnership represents a significant step towards a sustainable, hydrogen-powered future for commercial transportation in Thailand.
