Holcim to Adopt Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 for Emission-Free Construction
Swiss construction giant Holcim is set to adopt the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 as part of its sustainability drive. The electric truck, with its impressive range and charging capabilities, will help Holcim reduce emissions in its heavy-duty fleet.
The eActros 600 boasts a massive 600 kWh battery, enabling it to travel 500 km on a single charge. From its launch, Mercedes-Benz Trucks will also offer rigid variants of this model. The truck supports CCS charging at up to 400 kW and will soon accommodate megawatt charging (MCS). With intermediate charging during breaks, the eActros 600 can cover over 1,000 km daily.
Powered by durable Lithium-Iron-Phosphate (LFP) batteries, the eActros 600 avoids using nickel or cobalt. These batteries can charge from 20 to 80 percent in about 30 minutes at suitable charging stations. Series production is slated to begin late 2024.
Holcim, aiming for 30% zero-emission heavy truck purchases by 2030, plans to add 1,000 units of the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 to its European fleet. This significant investment underscores Holcim's commitment to sustainability and cleaner operations.
