Huawei Tops Mainland China Smartphone Market in Q2 2025, Despite Overall Decline
The Mainland China smartphone market experienced a 4% year-on-year decline in Q2 2025, but is expected to grow modestly for the full year, outperforming the world market. Huawei, after a challenging period, has reclaimed the top spot with a significant lead.
Huawei shipped 12.2 million units, capturing an 18% market share, thanks to the launch of the Nova 14 series featuring HarmonyOS 5.0 and the resumption of deliveries through trade partners like major telecommunications companies and national technology firms. These partnerships, boosted by national subsidy programs, have helped Huawei consolidate its position.
Xiaomi followed closely with 10.4 million units, securing fourth place and maintaining its eighth consecutive quarter of annual growth. Xiaomi's in-house chipset XRing O1, powering its flagship Xiaomi 15s Pro and Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra, has contributed to this success. vivo took second place with 11.8 million units and a 17% share, after rolling out new models across its X200, S30, and Y300 series to target a wider range of customer segments. OPPO (including OnePlus) came in third with 10.7 million units and a 16% share. Apple ranked fifth with 10.1 million units.
The Mainland China smartphone market, despite a Q2 decline, is poised for modest full-year growth. Huawei's return to the top, driven by strategic partnerships and new product launches, signals a competitive market landscape. Xiaomi's in-house chipset and vivo's expanded product portfolio have also contributed to their strong performances.
