Industry veteran Don Young appointed as Everon's new CEO
Don Young, a highly respected executive with over 35 years of experience in the security and life safety industry, has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Everon, a leading provider of commercial security, video, fire, and life safety solutions in the U.S. [1][3][5]
Young's career in the industry spans across several prominent companies, including SecurityLink, ASG Security, HSM, STANLEY Security, Protection 1, and most recently, ADT, where he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. His appointment at Everon marks a significant step in the company's ongoing transformation under private equity firm GTCR, which acquired Everon in 2023. [4]
Tim Whall, who has served as interim CEO since November 2024, will continue in his role as Executive Chairman of the Board. Whall highlighted Young's leadership, noting that it has consistently driven results and strengthened customer relationships, as critical to Everon's continued momentum. [2]
Young expressed his excitement about leading Everon in executing its vision with the speed and quality that today's commercial customers demand. He noted Everon's strategic foundation, operational capabilities, and customer-first culture as what drew him to the opportunity. [2]
Everon has positioned itself as a full-service integrator, specializing in the installation, service, and monitoring of commercial-grade systems for enterprise clients. Young's deep expertise, strategic clarity, and customer-centric mindset are expected to help Everon sharpen its focus and elevate service delivery. [2][3]
Beyond his corporate leadership, Young has played a significant role in industry organizations and standards development. He co-founded the Partnership for Priority Verified Alarm Response (PPVAR) and served as its first president. Additionally, he was president of The Monitoring Association (TMA) from 2019 to 2021, and he currently sits on the board of directors for the Security Industry Association (SIA). Young also actively contributes to the UL Standards & Engagement Technical Committee, which focuses on professional monitoring standards. [1][3]
This is the fifth private equity-backed venture that Young and Whall have partnered on. Their partnership dates back several decades, including past tenures at Protection 1 and ADT. [4]
In an announcement, Whall stated that Young's appointment is a significant milestone for Everon, and his deep expertise, strategic clarity, and customer-centric mindset will help Everon sharpen its focus and elevate service delivery. [2]
The leadership transition at Everon follows the departure of Dan Bresingham, who served as CEO from early 2023 until November 2024. [4]
With Young at the helm, Everon is poised to continue its growth and maintain its reputation as a leading provider of security, video, fire, and life safety solutions.
