International finance firm HK welcomes Haitong International's director as the new partner for its debt finance division
Reed Smith Strengthens Hong Kong Office with Partnership of Evelyn Wang
Reed Smith's Hong Kong office has made a significant addition to its corporate practice, with the hiring of Evelyn Wang as a partner in July 2025. Wang joins the firm from Haitong International Securities Group, where she served as a director in the Loan Capital Markets team [1][2][4].
Wang's extensive experience spans the Greater China and Southeast Asia regions, making her a valuable asset to Reed Smith's clients. Her work at Haitong International saw her involved in both the borrower and lender sides of transactions, as well as margin financing, fund financing, cross-border leveraged and acquisition financing, and debt finance matters for private equity sponsors, enterprises, and institutions [3].
Praj Samant, Reed Smith's Asia-Pacific managing partner, expressed his excitement about Wang's arrival, stating that she is a highly regarded lawyer with superb technical acumen and a wealth of experience [5]. Johnny Lim, Asia co-chair of Reed Smith's global corporate group, shared the sentiment, expressing his delight at having Wang on board.
The addition of Wang to Reed Smith's Hong Kong office comes at a time when the firm is expanding its finance capabilities in the region. With her arrival, the firm can now offer a broader range of services to its clients [6].
It is worth noting that this year has seen the departure of Michael Sinn and Patrick Wong from Reed Smith's Hong Kong office [7]. However, the focus in the latest updates has been on the addition of Evelyn Wang to the office [1][2]. Reed Smith now has 25 partners in Hong Kong, including Regina Lui, who joined from A&O Shearman in May, and Arthur Tso, who moved from DLA Piper in December 2024.
