Interview with Photographer Nemanja Sekulic
Nemanja Sekulic, a professional photographer and digital artist from Belgrade, Serbia, is known for his diverse work in various photographic genres, including photo manipulation and compositing. His creative inspiration comes from a multitude of sources such as books, movies, music, and everyday situations.
One of Sekulic's favourite photographs is his interpretation of Batman, which marked his first time using a 3D human model he created in ZBrush. Another favourite is "Big Library," a composite image inspired by the X-Men's Cerebro and his late father's extensive library.
When it comes to digital tools, Sekulic finds the lens flares presets, sunray filters like S_Rays and S_EdgeRays, and other tools in Optics particularly useful for film simulations and color grading.
Creative burnout is a challenge Sekulic faces, and he combats it by doing something completely different and unrelated to the project, often for a day or two. His work often includes elements of science fiction, fantasy, and surrealism in realistic everyday vignettes.
Currently, Sekulic is working on a course teaching people how to mold hair for commercial projects, inspired by his "Birdhouse Hairstyle" composite image. When working on a big project, he prepares by researching the topic, sketching, taking necessary photos, and using Photoshop and Optics for editing.
Sekulic started his creative journey as a photographer 20 years ago, using Adobe Photoshop. If he could speak with any artist, living or dead, he would choose M.C. Escher to discuss his magical illusions. His favourite snack when working on a big project is protein chocolate.
For those interested in following Sekulic's work, he can be found on Twitter, and some of his work can be seen on his website. However, a full biography including background and career milestones can be found on his official profiles such as personal websites, professional portfolios, or social media accounts specific to Nemanja Sekulic.
Sekulic harnesses the power of technology, specifically Photoshop and Optics, in his work on digital projects. He also delves into the realm of artificial-intelligence, creating 3D human models in ZBrush for his photographic compositions.
