Introducing the 16GB Version of the Colorful Kindle e-Reader in 2025
Amazon has announced the release of two new Kindle Colorsoft models: the standard 16GB Colorsoft 2025 and the premium Signature Edition 2025.
The Kindle Colorsoft 2025 Edition comes with a 16GB storage capacity, priced around $250 in the United States, and varying based on the country of residence. It features a 7-inch E Ink Kaleido 3 color e-paper display with a black and white resolution of 1264×1680 and 300 PPI, as well as a color resolution of 150. The device is powered by a 2310 mAh battery, expected to last 8 hours on a single charge.
The standard edition utilizes a front-lit display and color temperature system with 25 LED lights (12 white LEDs and 13 amber LEDs). It is equipped with a dual-core 2GHz MediaTek processor, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage for digital content. The device is also rated IPX8, capable of withstanding immersion in up to 2 meters of fresh water for 60 minutes, and up to 0.25 meters in seawater for 3 minutes.
The Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition 2025, on the other hand, is a more expensive upgrade, offering quick charging, an ambient light sensor, and a fingerprint-resistant finish on the back plate. It boasts a higher-end screen with a grey background and deep black fonts, closely similar to black-and-white e-paper displays, eliminating prior yellow band issues. The device also features wireless charging support with repositioned charging coils and an upgraded mainboard for faster page turns and UI navigation.
The Signature Edition has a 32GB storage capacity, originally priced at $280, but varying with deals. It is slightly lighter than the standard edition, weighing 7.5 oz, due to the absence of a quick charging coil on the back plate.
Both models are available in more countries than the Signature Edition, including the United States, Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom. They are designed to be ad-free, eliminating the concern of seeing inappropriate advertisements for racy e-books.
