Foxconn, the tech giant, is making a significant move into the automotive industry with its car division, Foxtron. The company is developing a prototype vehicle, the Model B, a B-class battery electric SUV, and has secured government approval for its production.

The Model B, approximately 4300mm long, is being tuned in Australia through a partnership with Mitsubishi Motors Australia. This adjustment is aimed at adapting the vehicle to Australian road conditions, demonstrating Foxtron's strategy to tailor its EV for global markets.

Foxconn is not alone in its foray into the car industry. Tech companies such as Apple, Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo, and Samsung are also active in this space.

The Model B is just the beginning for Foxconn. The company is building strategic partnerships and expanding its manufacturing capacity internationally. One of its key strategies is the One-FIT modular EV platform, which includes partnerships to produce advanced automotive semiconductors and chassis components.

Foxconn is also innovating in EV infrastructure and technology. Its award-winning FitPile mini DC charger and investments in solid-state batteries and road sensing systems are testament to this.

Looking ahead, Foxconn plans to establish EV manufacturing facilities in the United States and Japan around 2027-2028. A potential collaboration with Nissan could see Foxconn producing EVs at Nissan’s underutilized Oppama plant in Japan, benefiting both companies by preserving local jobs and enhancing production efficiency.

As spy shots of the Foxtron prototype vehicle emerge, it is clear that the development of the vehicle is ongoing. The prototype features large Foxtron lettering in the intake, large rims, and a front lightbar, a contemporary design cue seen in XPeng and Li Auto vehicles.

If Foxconn enters the EV market, it would add to the growing number of tech companies involved in the automotive industry. The official unveiling of the Foxtron Model B, along with two other designs, is scheduled for October 18th. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development.

The One-FIT modular EV platform, being developed by Foxconn, includes partnerships to produce advanced automotive semiconductors and chassis components, indicating the tech giant's expansion beyond the realm of electric vehicles and into the realm of gadgets and technology. Foxconn's Foxtron Model B, equipped with a sleek design reminiscent of contemporary electric vehicles from XPeng and Li Auto, demonstrates the company's ambition to offer a lifestyle that seamlessly integrates technology and cars.
