IONITY Opens First Northern Ireland EV Charging Hub
IONITY, a leading provider of high-power charging infrastructure for electric vehicles (EVs), has opened its first charging hub in Northern Ireland. Located at the Toome highway service station, the site features six 350-kilowatt points, offering real-time availability and status information to Zapmap users. This marks a significant step towards supporting the growing EV community in the region.
The new charging hub was unveiled with support from Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE) Networks. Ian Craig from NIE Networks expressed his organisation's commitment to facilitating the transition to greener energy. Andreas Atkins, IONITY's UK and Ireland National Director, commented on the opening, highlighting the importance of such infrastructure for EV drivers.
IONITY plans to expand its network in the future, with another charging site currently under construction at the Kennedy Centre in Belfast. The organisation behind this innovative project is the Centre for Advanced Sustainable Energy (CASE), which developed the first high-performance charging hub for electric mobility vehicles in Northern Ireland.
The opening of IONITY's first charging hub in Northern Ireland is a testament to the growing demand for EV charging infrastructure. With support from NIE Networks and Zapmap, IONITY aims to provide convenient and reliable charging solutions for EV drivers, paving the way for a greener future.
