Irvine PD Unveils First Police Tesla Cybertruck for DARE Program
The Irvine Police Department (IPD) has made history by unveiling the first Tesla Cybertruck to be used by a police department in the nation. The unique vehicle, which was introduced with the iconic Terminator 2: Judgment Day Theme by Brad Fiedel, will support IPD's Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) program and community outreach efforts.
The Cybertruck was modified for police use by UP.FIT, a subsidiary of Unplugged Performance. Unlike regular patrol cars, the Cybertruck won't serve as a daily patrol vehicle but will be available for emergencies and community assistance. IPD has a long history of using unique vehicles in its DARE program, engaging with students and the community for over 30 years.
IPD is one of only two agencies in California to continue operating a DARE program. The Cybertruck will help officers connect with the youth of Irvine and promote positive community interaction. The public can expect to see the Cybertruck up close and meet with officers at upcoming community events hosted by IPD.
The Cybertruck, modified by UP.FIT, has joined the IPD fleet to support its DARE program and community outreach. While not a regular patrol car, it will be available for emergencies and community assistance. The public can look forward to seeing this unique vehicle at IPD's upcoming community events.
