New Tourist Visa Category Announced for GCC Residents

The Directorate General of Residency Affairs in Kuwait has announced a new tourist visa category for residents of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. This category is designed for individuals who hold specific jobs and possess the financial means to travel and tour.

According to Colonel Abdulaziz Al-Kandari, Assistant Director of the Electronic Services Department at the Directorate General of Residency Affairs, this second of the four tourist visa categories is targeted at GCC residents who hold medium to high professions. The list of approved professions for obtaining tourist visas under this category is extensive and includes a wide range of qualified, skilled professionals across various sectors.

The approved professions for this category are as follows:

  1. Presidents, their deputies and assistants
  2. Ministers and their deputies
  3. Council members
  4. Secretaries-general and undersecretaries
  5. Governors
  6. Members of the diplomatic corps
  7. General managers
  8. Judges and prosecutors
  9. Lawyers
  10. Muftis
  11. University faculty, professors, teachers, scholars, and their deputies and assistants
  12. Golden residency holders in the GCC
  13. Investors and business owners
  14. Company CEOs and directors
  15. Managers and administrators in various fields
  16. Financial intermediaries for bonds and securities
  17. Accountants, auditors, regulators, and economic and financial analysts
  18. Physicians, surgeons, their deputies and assistants
  19. Pharmacists, their deputies and assistants
  20. Nurses, their deputies and assistants
  21. Medical and paramedical technicians and assistants
  22. Engineers, their deputies and assistants
  23. Basic and technical functions of information systems, networks, computers, and websites
  24. Pilots, flight attendants, their deputies and assistants
  25. Referees, sports coaches, their deputies and assistants
  26. Journalists and media professionals
  27. Other professions including physicists, chemists, astronomers, geologists, statisticians, specialists, commercial agents and brokers, liaison officers, sales and marketing officers, consultants, ship captains, architectural draftsmen, and aircraft mechanics.

Applicants in this category do not need to submit a salary certificate or bank account proof. The profession requirement has recently been softened or removed in some decisions, though it is advised to have a recognized profession to avoid visa delays or rejection.

Individuals in this category can obtain single-entry visas valid for one to three months or multiple-entry visas for up to one year, with each stay not exceeding one month. This list reflects the latest news updates on tourist visa categories in GCC countries as of August 2025.
